Moving bulk cargo is not simply a larger version of sending a parcel. A little preparation before collection day protects your goods and keeps your costs predictable.
1. Palletise wherever you can
Palletised freight is faster to load, less likely to shift in transit and cheaper to handle. Shrink-wrap the full stack and keep the load square to the pallet edges.
2. Label every item, not just the shipment
If a consignment is split across vehicles, per-item labelling is what keeps it together at the far end.
3. Declare weights accurately
Under-declared weight is the most common cause of a re-quote at collection. Weigh before you book.
4. Insure to replacement value
Standard carrier liability is limited. For high-value freight, take cover that reflects what the goods would actually cost to replace.
5. Book collection windows early
Loading bays and vehicles are busiest at month-end. Booking a few days ahead gets you the slot you want.
